Over 200 artists worked tirelessly to create the art used to achieve the film's surreal style. True to its pop-art aesthetic, creativity and innovation were encouraged. Unlike a modern animated production where model sheets and style guides are rigorously adhered too, the artists were encouraged to embrace the surreal and the avant-garde and to both literally and metaphorically ‘color outside the lines.’
