Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, in 1935, Elvis Aaron Presley would become one of the most prominent musical performers with more than two dozen #1 singles during his lifetime and appearances on television and in films. After a brief stint in the U.S. Army and several years spent in Hollywood, Elvis famously returned to his roots with a TV event known as the 1968 Comeback Special. Dressed in black leather and playing guitar alongside his singing, The King was on top of the world!
